I'm not sure if you know this about me, but I love pretty much anything to do with design, it's almost a compulsion. I feel deeply drawn to fashion, interior design, and getting my hands dirty, whether painting, drawing or refinishing furniture. So, like many people before us it has been a natural progression for my husband and I to try our hand at flipping some houses. Well, it came about in more of an unconscious way for us in that a friend's elderly parents needed some help getting out of their family home and into a more suitable place. However, they were completely overwhelmed by the amount of decluttering and repairs the house required to get it ready for sale. My husband and I decided since we were expecting our first son that we would take the place off their hands in the condition it was in and make a new home to start our family in while also helping them find a great condo that suited their lifestyle better.
Why is that when expecting a child everyone seems to move or take on huge renovations? Seriously, it seems like we always do this, as if having your first child isn't enough of a change!
Anyway, this project was a huge undertaking for our first real flip, as you will see, but we are pretty proud of the results. Since then we have completed a second flip, which is more like 3 more because we flipped a triplex and will be getting the key to our next property in a week. Busy, busy, busy, but we love the challenge and seeing the transformations!

Kitchen & Main Floor - After:
As you can see the main floor was the largest undertaking in this renovation. The following pictures are before and afters of the other rooms and bathrooms. All the "after" photos are from our listing when we sold it, there is NO way we were this tidy with two little boys who were under the age of 3 at the time and a giant dog.
Well, you get the idea. As much work as it was to take this on... not to mention a little nerve-racking moving in on my due date with our first baby (he came 10 days later thank goodness). It was a great test of how we worked together and what we could do. A lot of thanks to my husband, his friend and his uncle who basically did this alone! Amazing!
This was a nice trip down memory lane for me, and has gotten me excited for our upcoming project. I am busy in the furniture shop refreshing pieces for the showing in a couple months, can't wait to share the results with you.
Thanks for reading.
All the best,
